Casey Sturgill
Born and raised in Western North Carolina, Sturgill played on back-to-back state championship teams at South Stokes High School in Walnut Cove, NC. He attended the University of North Carolina and graduated in 2007 with a dual degree in Journalism and Exercise Sport Science. While attending UNC, Sturgill played club baseball for four years. He became the coach and president of the UNC baseball club his senior year and helped lead the club to the 2007 national championship in Fort Myers, Florida.
Sturgill has also worked four summers in Minor League Baseball. In 2004 and 2005, he was the Broadcasting Assistant for the class-A Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Carolina League. In 2006, he was the Director of Broadcasting for the short-season class-A Burlington Indians of the Appalachian League. In 2008, he became a stadium operations assistant for the class-AA Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League. In August, 2009, Sturgill moved to Tuscaloosa to pursue a master’s degree in Sport Management from the University of Alabama. He graduated from UA in August of 2010 and immediately entered the Master’s of Business Administration program at UA to supplement his Sport Management degree. He now serves as the head coach and business manager at CrossFit Mudtown in Birmingham, while also acting as an event management contractor for Framework Events. |
Ryan Majercik
A native of the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, KS, Majercik competed at NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in Hays, KS. A three-year letter winner, he redshirted as a freshman before becoming a three-year starter behind the plate. In his career, Majercik compiled a .324 batting average, 11 home runs, and 94 RBI. He was a two-time all-conference honorable mention selection and was named to the Daktronics All-Central Region Second Team in 2008. Majercik was also named the Conference Freshman of the Year in 2008. In July 2010, he earned the Scholar-Athlete Award for maintaining above a 3.65 GPA and earning all-conference honors.
During the summer of 2007, Majercik played for Regal Plastic of the Ban Johnson League (Kansas City). He was an All-Star selection and was named the Team MVP. In 2008, he played summer ball for the Salina Bluejays of the Walter Johnson Baseball League (Central Kansas). He was a member of the Waikiki Surfers, champions of the Hawaii Collegiate Baseball League (Honolulu, HI), during the summer of 2009. In December 2009, Majercik graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Fort Hays State University. Ryan now serves as the Associate Athletics Director of Strategic Marketing and Fan Engagement at the University of Oklahoma. |
Chris Shelton
Chris Shelton grew up in Pleasant Grove, Alabama just outside of Birmingham. A graduate of Pleasant Grove High School, he lettered in two sports, including baseball. Shelton enrolled at UA in 2006 and graduated in December 2011 with a degree in Human Performance: Physical Education. As a senior in 2011, Shelton aided in the formation of the club baseball team and served as its first Vice President along with Ryan Majercik under the initial President of Alabama Club Baseball, Casey Sturgill. Shelton also spent time as an infielder for the club's inaugural team.
Shelton has served as Director of Baseball Operations for Samford University, an assistant baseball coach at Christian Brothers University, and as a head high school baseball coach in Tennessee. Shelton currently serves as an assistant baseball coach and teacher at Hueytown High School. |
